Our regular season continues as we face off against Burlington White (Saturday – Away) and GUFC Blitz (Sunday – Home)
For October 23rd and October 30th, our regular practice session will be held at Walker Field instead of the Mebane Soccer Complex.
The ’96 MYSA Lunachicks are getting themselves setup on the web! Check back for news, pictures, and other Lunachick excitment!
UPDATE:I’ll be posting some older news items from email as well.
Congratulations to the following Lunachicks who earned soccer patches this week! This includes those patches earned earlier this season before the program was finalized.
Congratulations to ‘T2′ for exceeding her fundraising goal in the JDRF Walk To Cure Diabetes. ‘T2′ walked with Labcorp – Seth’s Sluggers and raised 160% of her goal! Thanks to all the members of the Lunachick Fringe who donated to help her exceed her goal.
The coaches have gotten the patch program for this year finalized. Sorry it’s so late. We’re doing some of the same patches and also some different ones. First, we’ve changed our metrics a bit. Last year the girls earned a patch the first time they did something, so many earned their patches quickly. Our main goal this season was to make the patches truly earned. Last year if you did something in one match, you earned a patch. Now that the girls are getting older (and better) we want them to really EARN a patch. So many patches require the girls do something in multiple matches or over a period of time. We told the girls NOT to worry about how many moves/passes/goals over however many matches they needed to do. Just DO them in matches and we’ll tell them when they earn their patch. I’ve been trying to finalize the patch program for the year – yes I know it’s way overdue. But I’ve been tracking stuff since the beginning of the season to make sure everything ‘counts’.
Anyway – in tallying up the goals scored statistics from all of our matches, I discovered that every single Lunachick has scored a goal this season and *NINE* girls have scored more than one.
For those of you curious, our Avg Goals Scored is 3.58 and Avg Goals Allowed is 1.75
So I just wanted to say congratulations to all!
UPDATE: The patch program is finished.
Hello Lunachick Fringe!!!!
I just received a call from the manager of Blue Ribbon and well, we did OK. We had 75 people bring in flyers – thanks to those who distributed them, generating $650 for the restaurant which translates to just under $100 for the Lunachicks (96 dollars and some odd cents)! With our car wash plus this, we have right at $500, which should cover the fee for any tournament that the coaches decide on.
The manager was quite funny though…asked how did a soccer team of 14 girls bring in 75 people to eat at Blue Ribbon? LOL – I said put the word “Lunachick” on anything and you never know what will happen
Thanks to everyone who came out to Blue Ribbon with a flyer to help support our team!
